Writers Speak Wednesdays Bring Amy Sohn and More
Hamptons regular Amy Sohn was a guest in the 2014 Fall Writers Speak Wednesdays series at Stony Brook Southampton on October 15, followed by Alissa Nutting on Wednesday, October 22.
Sohn’s latest novel, The Actress, is set against the backdrop of contemporary Hollywood and tells the story of a New York thespian who becomes involved with a major movie star and soon begins to question her role as his wife. The bestselling author’s other novels include Prospect Park West (2009), Motherland (2012), My Old Man (2004) and Run Catch Kiss (1999).
Nutting, of Cleveland, Ohio is the author of the novel Tampa and the short story collection Unclean Jobs for Women and Girls.
Writers Speak Wednesdays is a series of free author talks and readings open to the public at Stony Brook Southampton. Other writers scheduled for the series include: Julia Fierro, author of Cutting Teeth, on October 29; Joydeep Roy-Bhattacharya, author of Light Angel (to published this winter), on November 5; and Brian Morton, author of Florence Gordon and Starting Out in the Evening, interviewed by former New Yorker fiction editor Daniel Menaker, on November 12.
The 2014 Writers Speak Wednesday series will conclude with readings by Stony Brook Southampton’s MFA in Creative Writing students on December 3.
