One Pedestrian Dead, One Critical Following Flanders Road Accident

A vehicle struck two pedestrians crossing Flanders Road in Riverside Sunday night, killing one and critically injuring the other.
Southampton town police said the accident occurred at about 7:53 p.m. just north of Vail Avenue. A male driver was headed southbound when the two male pedestrians were hit, according to authorities. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.
The driver was uninjured and police said “no criminality has been established at this time.”
Flanders Road was closed for three hours while Southampton Town and New York State police investigated.
