Southampton Bay Constables Save Couple, Dog from Boat Run Aground

A boat ran aground in western Shinnecock Bay off Phillips Point Saturday evening and began to rapidly take on water.
Southampton Town Bay Constables received a distress call at 5:35 p.m. and responded to the vessel, which had two persons and a dog on board.
Bay Constable Danielle McManus arrived on scene and immediately removed a female passenger and the dog. Constables and a commercial towing company were able to dewater the vessel and safely escort it to Hampton Boat Works on Smith Creek in Hampton Bays.
Southampton Bay Constable Mark Ruocco assisted in the operation. No injuries were reported as a result of the grounding but the vessel sustained substantial damage.
