Barbara Walters Returns with More Fascinating People
Following her recently announced retirement, Hamptonite Barbara Walters is returning to ABC primetime with her popular long-running annual special, Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014.
The two-hour ABC News special highlights some of 2014’s most prominent names in entertainment and pop culture, including some fellow East End visitors. So far, ABC has revealed Walters, 85, will interview Oprah Winfrey, Neil Patrick Harris, Taylor Swift, Chelsea Handler, electric car entrepreneur Elon Musk, Michael Strahan, billionaire David Koch and Scarlett Johansson for the special.
Six of the eight personalities have Hamptons connections, including Johansson, who has a home in Amagansett, and Koch a Southampton homeowner. Winfrey has rented here, Swift just recently visited Ina Garten in East Hampton, and Strahan and Handler are no strangers to the Hamptons’ most exclusive parties.
The final two names will be revealed soon, including Walters’ #1 most fascinating person, who will be revealed on the special. Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014 will air on Sunday, December 14 from 9–11 p.m. on ABC.
“I was absolutely delighted when ABC approached me to do another year of ’10 Most Fascinating People’,” Walters said in ABC’s announcement. ”I know we said last year was our last, but there are just too many fascinating people out there… and you never pass up the opportunity to interview Oprah, Neil, Chelsea or Scarlett.”
Since its first airing in 1993, Walters annual special has consistently been one of the highest rated specials of the year.
