Alec Baldwin to Host 'The Searchers' Screening at Guild Hall
Amagansett’s Alec Baldwin will host the Hamptons International Film Festival’s Winter Classics screening of The Searchers on February 7 in East Hampton.
The Searchers, which the American Film Institute ranks as the number one Western of all time, is directed by John Ford and stars John Wayne. The 1956 film is set during the Texas-Indian Wars. Wayne plays a Civil War veteran trying to locate his niece, who was abducted.
In Glenn Frankel’s recent book The Searchers: The Making of an American Legend, he writes that “The Searchers is perhaps the greatest Hollywood film that few people have seen.”
Hamptons International Film Festival artistic director David Nugent will serve as co-host.
The Searchers will be screened at Guild Hall, 158 Main Street, East Hampton, on Saturday, February 7, at 7 p.m. Admission is $22 for the public, and $20 for Guild Hall members.
