Police Investigating Death in Aquebogue
Robert J. Croghan was discovered dead February 13 at Verderber’s Garden Center in Aquebogue, and Riverhead police are investigating the cause and circumstances of his death.
The 52-year-old Aquebogue resident’s vehicle was involved in an accident earlier that day, and the driver was not present at the scene when police officers arrived, according to authorities. It appeared the 2005 Chevrolet pickup had been traveling eastbound on Hubbard Avenue, crossed the Edgar Avenue intersection and collided with a snowbank, trees and fence at Crescent Duck Farm. The owner of that property reported discovering the vehicle at 7:30 a.m.
Police said the cause of death is pending results from the Suffolk County medical examiner’s office.
