EAST END KID:

STEP RIGHT UP
BY EMILY HART POST
With a little help from Katlean de Monchy and David Post
The Big Apple Circus had its gala event, which raises money for the “clown doctors,” their Clown Care Unit that brings lots of laughs to 250,000 kids in hospitals around the country. The fun started right at the front gate, where clowns did tricks for all the kids. Inside, there was food and picture-taking and a chance to see my friends who were also attending. I ran over to see my favorite clown, “Grandma,” who told me that he has a daughter named Emily.

Then we went into the big top, where, after the Mayor said a few words, the circus began. There were so many fun parts – I can hardly remember them all because I was laughing and clapping so much. There were animals – trained dogs and beautiful white horses, like a carousel coming alive, clowns, acrobats and trapeze artists.

I’d choose Justin Case, the clown, as my favorite – he rode a tiny bicycle through a flaming hoop! The Big Apple Circus is a great time for kids and their parents. Go there! You’ll thank me. It’s fun and the Clown Care Unit clowns help so many kids.
