South O’ the Highway (and the North too)

Hamptonites turned out to dine at Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter’s restaurant, Waverly Inn, last week. Trendsetters Sarah Jessica Parker, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Molly Sims all enjoyed the scrumptious food and lush décor alongside a tableful of Hollywood heavyweights, including director and producer Ron Howard, actress Jennifer Connolly, and her husband, actor Paul Bettany.

Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham will be performing songs from his latest solo album, Under the Skin, at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on March 24.

Hamptonite Gary Ventura, affectionately known as “The Mayor” due to his commitment to preserving the beauty of the Hamptons’ beaches and local surfers access to them, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. To help pay for his medical bills, his friends will be hosting a benefit in his honor on Wednesday, March 28 at Casey’s in Westhampton Beach. Sag Harbor style maven B. Smith will be adding an elegant furniture line to her already extensive stable of stylish endeavors. The furniture will be available as part of the Clayton Marcus line of La-Z-Boy products and will debut at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, North Carolina later this month.

Last weekend, 107 students from East Hampton High School’s chorus and orchestra performed Stravinsky’s “Symphony of Psalms” and Poulenc’s “Gloria,” at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. The orchestra was comprised of seven high school choirs and orchestras and was conducted by Craig Jessop of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.

Hamptonite basset hound Brie Sherwin, accompanied by her human buddy Amanda Sherwin, has been chosen to Grand Marshall this year’s Board Waddle to raise money for the Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue on April 21. More than 500 basset hounds will compete for prizes for the most pledges, the most original costumes, best floats and longest ears. Westhampton resident Ann Liguori will be covering The Masters for WFAN from April fifth through eight and is now in her twentieth year on the all-sport’s radio station as one of the station’s original hosts.
