Shop ‘til You Drop...

With Maria Tennariello

Spring is in the air and I think I’m done with winter! Although I love the cold weather, I need some spring flowers and green trees to keep me going. We’re almost there – so let’s do some spring shopping.

I found a great shopping source at Once Upon A Time In The Hamptons Consignment Thrift Boutique (love the name), located at 485 Montauk Highway in East Quogue. If you love consignment shops, this one is not to be missed. It has been around for over twenty-two years and features some of the worlds best known designers. On Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m., the shop will hold its Semi-Annual Bag Sale and free breakfast, so you can wander around and enjoy the wares while you eat. The merchandise usually sells out quickly, so arrive early and have breakfast while you shop.

Hildreth’s (all locations) has just started their Lowest Prices of the Year Sale, with up to 37% off of Lloyd Flanders wicker and plantation-grown teak merchandise. You can surely get a jump-start on the season and have your patio furniture ready without the hassle of looking for good deals in June. Think spring!

The Country Gardens At Bridgehampton on Snake Hollow Road is continuing their Spring Into Savings Sale with plenty to choose from. Now is the time to purchase your spring home and garden equipment, tools and bulbs for early planting. From brooms, fences and mailboxes to birdfeeders, pet supplies, kennels, and foods, everything is here and under one roof.

Think doggie... The Invisible Fence Canine Control Company is offering a savings of $100 on fully installed outdoor systems for all new customers that wish to keep their pets safe and sound in their yards. There is fencing for all budgets here, as well as installation and training tips. It’s a good idea to consider your pets this season – it will be a busy one for sure.

O.K., here is the sale everyone has been waiting patiently for at In Home (furniture and accessories) on Main Street in Sag Harbor... The Spring Clearance Sale is currently in progress and will save you a cool 50% off of select tabletops, bedding, furniture, and so much more. These are really great deals and they are priced to sell, as In Home needs to make space for their new inventory that is arriving soon. Get going while the unique marchandise lasts – at half price!

ON THE NORTH FORK: Arline’s Ski & Snowboards Shop, at 1116 Main Road in Aquebogue, is liquidating all of their merchandise, including their fleet of rental skis, snowboards and boots. Everything has been priced to sell – don’t miss out on this special opportunity to collect all your favorite equipment for winter sports. For more information, call Arline’s at 631-722-8045.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: Westhampton Beach’s Bays Carpet, which has been serving the floor covering needs of East End residents for over twenty years, has landed at 139 Main Street (in the heart of the village). The store carries all major brands, including Schumacher, Helios, Shaw, Mohawk and Hunter Douglas. Owner John Reale’s goal is to provide friendly service and customer satisfaction on all their carpeting, area rugs, wood and laminate flooring, as well as to provide his customers with the best in ceramic tiles, shades, blinds, shutters, and more. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call them for more information at 631-288-1170.

Look out, Main Street, East Quogue has premiered their very first shoe boutique for ladies… The Hampton Shoe Vixen, located at 487 Montauk Highway in East Quogue (631-653-8197), will open its doors with a Grand Opening on Saturday, March 31 at 10 a.m., showcasing over 1,000 pairs of shoes in every style and color. Stop in and enjoy the free sushi and drinks and plenty of shoes, shoes, and more shoes! This store promises to be one of the most affordable ladies shoe stores on the East End, with most designer shoes under $100. Look for labels such as Steve Madden, Michael Kors, Yellow Box, Jessica Simpson, Nine West, Anne Klein, Carlos Santana, BCBG, Chinese Laundry, Doll House, and so much more. I’m there!

Birchwood On The Park, located at 76C Jobs Lane in Southampton (631-283-4316), has just moved to the Buckley’s Irish Pub building. This new Polish-American dining establishment with a cozy pub-like atmosphere serves lunch and dinner, seven days a week, with daily lunch and dinner specials. There is a Happy Hour on Friday and Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. with half-price drinks, drafts and appetizers. On Friday evenings there is an in-house band and a DJ plays every Saturday.

Until next week. Ciao and Happy Spring Shopping!
