Just For Kids
Earth Day At The Quogue Wildlife Refuge This past Earth Day, children and adults turned up for one of the Quogue Wildlife Refuge’s most successful celebrations to date. The sunshine and warm weather allowed visitors to experience all of the activities the Refuge has to offer, including kayaking around the ponds to observe hard-to-reach birds’ nests, learning about the animals in the distressed wildlife complex and watching the birds of prey strut their stuff in an exciting indoor bird show.
Guests were also treated to a reptile show, face painting, a glass hive of working honeybees and magnificent artwork by some local wildlife photographers. As the event was co-sponsored by the Long Island Chapter of the Audubon society, there were also plenty of resources and goodies for fans of the East End’s feathered friends.
If you missed
this great show, don’t worry, because everything that visitors were
able to learn and explore on Earth Day is being offered all year long
at the Refuge – be sure to check the Day by Day and events sections
in Dan’s Papers, as well as the refuge’s website at www.QuogueWildlifeRefuge.org,
for more information and schedules. |
