Courtney Love Knows Collectibles When She Sees Them
Well, Courtney Love may be a little rough around the edges, but when it comes to collectibles, she knows more than you would ever imagine.
Love stopped at Out of the Closet in Bridgehampton over the weekend and blew the minds of even the store’s owners with her knowledge of all things vintage.
“I was really surprised at her knowledge,” said Lucy Martin, co-owner of the vintage clothing and antique shop, who said Love spent hours browsing and purchasing antique and collectibles and had a specific knowledge of items from the 1940’s and ’50s. “She needed her chauffeur to come make a special trip to pack all the stuff she had. She’s a little whacky, but she’s a collector.”
Even when exposing a highbrow side, Love can’t resist throwing in a bit of the quirky flair that made her famous. Martin says that Love started singing and dancing at one point while sifting through valuables. “it was fun,” she added.
It was also the second celebrity encounter — and the second pleasant surprise — that Martin and partner Ruth Chernaik have had in their store in recent weeks. Kim Kardashian came by recently, and Martin described her as a rather gracious, down-to-earth young woman. Said Martin, “She’s not like the picture that I think had been painted of her.”
