Dan’s Taste of Two Forks Countdown: 10 Guilty Pleasures
If you over-indulged a bit over July 4th Weekend, if the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest made you envious, don’t feel too bad. Ten of the top chefs from the East End who’ll be serving culinary masterpieces at Dan’s Taste of Two Forks on July 16 admit they have guilty pleasures of their own.
Sam McCleland, Beacon… Over-the-counter sweets. And White Castle cheeseburgers. I’m trying to knock both of them off, but every now and then my wife will see some White Castles in the freezer
Joseph Realmuto, Nick & Toni’s… Foie gras
Bill Memmes, Rugosa…Tortilla chips with Velveeta and rotelle
William Bertha, Gurney’s Pasticceria and Beach Bakery... Chocolate martinis—you can tell that I am a pastry chef.
Terry Harwood, Vine Street Café… A light-crisp Jack & Coke with BBQ baby back ribs
Segundo Pelaez, Savanna’s… I like burgers—but it has to be a really good one.
Jason Weiner, Almond… Sadly, I find McDonald’s irresistible.
Kevin Penner, The Grill on Pantigo… I’m vegan now, so guilty pleasure is a loaded term. If guilt’s involved, I do like foie gras—I don’t eat it, but that would be a good one.
Sarabeth Levine, Sarabeth’s… My own sourdough bread mile-high with cream cheese and my marmalade, and piping hot French fries made from really good potatoes.
Joe Isidori, Southfork Kitchen… I love tacos and beer.
