Jean-Georges Vongerichten Hosting Dan's Papers Second Annual Dan’s Taste of Two Forks
Stemming from the overwhelming “sold‐out” success of the First Annual Dan’s Taste of Two Forks (www.tasteoftwoforks.com) held in July 2011, Dan’s Papers, the iconic mainstay publication of the East End, founded by Dan Rattiner and owned by Manhattan Media is gearing up for the highly anticipated follow up event this summer. Once again Dan’s Taste of Two Forks will showcase the best local culinary talent from over thirty East End restaurants, Long Island wineries from the Long Island Wine Council and several premiere local purveyors. Dan Rattiner is honored to announce that the one and only Jean‐Georges Vongerichten will host this year’s event, taking place Saturday, July 14 at beautiful Sayre Park at 154 Snake Hollow Road in Bridgehampton, NY. Tickets will go on sale through the event website starting May 1, with VIP tickets available for $225 including early admission from 6:30pm‐7:30pm and general admission tickets for the event from 7:30 pm‐10 pm available for $150.
With this year’s bash falling on Bastille Day, award-winning chef and France native Jean‐Georges Vongerichten was the ideal choice to help celebrate the festivities with true French flare. The legendary chef, author and restaurateur has been a frequent Hamptons visitor for many years, he is known worldwide for his culinary prowess and business savvy and owns and operates three‐ and four‐star restaurants in the United States (Jean Georges, The Mark Restaurant, Spice Market, Mercer Kitchen, Perry St, and JoJo), France (Market restaurant), Bahamas (Café Martinique, DUNE), Bora Bora (Lagoon) and Shanghai (Jean Georges Shanghai). “I am honored to host the 2nd annual Dan’s Taste of Two Forks,” says Jean‐Georges. “It is always a pleasure to be amongst a group of gifted chefs and fine restaurants.”
Joining Chef Jean‐Georges in the fête will be Paris-trained apparel designer Nicole Miller, who has just been named Food Critic of Dan’s Papers sister publication The Daily Dan for the summer of 2012. “There are some amazing restaurants on the east end—with access to fresh produce and seafood the quality is always excellent,” Nicole explains. “It’s wonderful to celebrate with Dan’s Taste of Two Forks the talented and diverse chefs and vineyards on the East End.”
This year’s lineup of restaurants includes many of the great successes from last year, including Georgica, 1770 House, Luce and Hawkins, Race Lane, Nick & Toni’s, Southampton Social Club, Cittanuova, Southfork Kitchen, in addition to newcomers 75 Main, Amarelle, Beaumarchais East Hampton, Navy Beach, Rumba Rum Bar and Smokin’ Wolf BBQ & More, to name a few. New restaurants are being added daily with about 35 expected at the event in addition to a myriad of local wineries and purveyors, including award winning Southampton Publick House who has been making ales and lagers on the East End since 1996.
Dan’s Taste of Two Forks is produced by Manhattan Media, which currently publishes several lifestyle publications in the Hamptons and Manhattan including Dan’s Papers and the summer hit The Daily Dan, Avenue Magazine, New York Family, and West Side Spirit, amongst others. In addition to their publishing endeavors, Manhattan Media produces other major events including the AVENUE Show’s Antiques & Art at the Armory, the New Amsterdam Bicycle Show and New York Family’s New York Baby Show.
Dan’s Taste of Two Forks has once again teamed up with Have a Heart Community Trust as the event charity partner. Headquartered in Southampton and dedicated to providing direct emergency relief to residents all over the East End of Long Island in times of individual and/or family crisis, Have a Heart works directly with dozens of local not‐for‐profit organizations to offer financial support to those most in need covering an area from Riverhead to Montauk, across both the North and South Forks. “At a time when donations were at an all-time low, the 12 pantries that benefited from last year’s Dan’s Taste of Two Forks were extremely thankful to have the extra support. I am very impressed with Dan’s Papers commitment and continued support to East End residents, and we look forward to working with them to make a difference in our special community,” said Bret O. Pahwul, President, Have a Heart Community Trust.
This year’s presenting sponsor is Farrell Building Company, the luxury homebuilders of the Hamptons. Other premiere sponsors include Lincoln, TOWN Residential, Citarella, Hampton Jitney, Southampton Publick House, Dutch Petals, Designs by DiMichaels, and The Long Island Wine Council.
