Rock/Blues Icon Southside Johnny Brings Poor Fools To Amagansett
New Jersey’s own Southside Johnny is bringing his new band Southside Johnny and the Poor Fools to appear at Stephen’s Talkhouse in Amagansett on Saturday, June 23rd at 8pm.
With a decades-long successful career, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes delivered their soul-searing brand of raucous blues and R&B, recorded over 30 albums and became known for huge hits like “I Don’t Want To Go Home”, “Love On The Wrong Side Of Town”, “The Fever”, “This Time It’s For Real” and “Got To Get You Off My Mind”.
The Poor Fools features Jukes collaborator Jeff Kazee, Jukes bassist John Conte, Billy Joel guitarist Tommy Byrnes, Asbury Jukes trombonist and multi-instrumentalist Neal Pawley – best known as “The Dude” – along with occasional guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen violinist/fiddle player Soozie Tyrell, all banding together to deliver to music fans an acoustically-mined, up-close-and-personal live stage throwdown. With The Poor Fools, Southside Johnny will be sharingfrontman duties with his band-mates and will even strap on a guitar himself on stage for the first time in years, while choosing fan-devoted, intimate venues for these shows.
“We’ll be doing country songs, or bluegrass stuff, older songs, softer songs maybe – covers from say Dylan or Tom Waits. We’re always gonna have some Rock and Roll in there, and we’re going to do different versions of Jukes’ material that the fans have never heard.”
