Discover Water Mill Day
Discover Water Mill Day is the one magical day a year that The Water Mill Center holds an open house, providing tours of The Center, Robert Wilson’s Watermill Collection, and the six acres of beautifully landscaped grounds featuring outdoor sculptures and artifacts.
“The purpose of Discover Water Mill Day is to allow people of the community to understand what The Water Mill Center is about,” Michael Braverman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Water Mill Center explained. “There are performances, exhibitions, and the day ends with one big performance that exemplifies the work that has been created there during the summer.”
This year the attendance was over 700 people, including families and children who came out to enjoy this 3-hour long free event. This event takes place near the ending of the International Summer Program, in order to show off the work that has been created throughout the summer, and well as showcasing new material. This allows for The Center to have different works on display and new performances each year.
It’s a shame that we have to wait a whole year for Discover Water Mill Day to come around again, but no fear! Tours of The Water Mill Center will be resuming in September, so make sure to check out the website and reserve your spot!
