Barbara Walters Reacts to Lohan Interview Snub
Hamptons resident and grande dame of the tough celebrity interview, Barbara Walters was clearly miffed after Lindsay Lohan’s new publicists canceled their interview for the November 16 episode of “20/20” and instead opted to appear on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. Check out the video below.
Walters shared her frustration with the world on Monday’s airing of “The View.” The journalist said she “spent a lot of time” preparing, including taking a camera crew to the set of Lohan’s new Lifetime movie “Liz & Dick” in Los Angeles and filming pre-interview footage of the troubled star.
She noted her affection for Lohan, but agreed with View co-host Whoopie Goldberg’s belief that the starlet’s new PR team, Rogers & Cowan, wanted to avoid questions about her recent legal troubles. “If they had said to me… she isn’t up to the questions you might ask… I wouldn’t feel quite as disappointed,” Walters said, suggesting that Leno would likely give an easier interview.
“You are a very different kind of interviewer,” Goldberg said.
Lohan’s “Liz & Dick” contract obligates her to do one TV interview. The film airs at 9 p.m. Sunday, November 25 on Lifetime.
