Holiday Happenings in and Around the Hamptons
When Thanksgiving ends, the true holiday season begins on the East End. Enjoy the Hamptons and the North Fork to the fullest this weekend. There’s so much to do, and something for everyone. Here are a few selections from our calendar to get you in the holiday spirit.

21st Annual Country Parlor Holiday Home Show
Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Hallockville Museum Farm, 6038 Sound Avenue, Riverhead
The North Fork’s most unique holiday show of fine folk artists and craftspeople features a carefully-curated selection of seasonal and home décor, including baskets, ornaments, quilts, rugs, dolls, dried flower wreaths and arrangements, hand-woven scarves and shawls, and much more. The best part? All the fine goods are displayed within a winter wonderland in the historic Naugles Barn at the Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead.
There’s plenty to see at the museum as well. Entry to the show is free, but partial proceeds from sales benefit North Shore Horse Rescue, Baiting Hollow.
Marder’s 39th Annual Open House
Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Marder’s, 120 Snake Hollow Road, Bridgehampton
Be a part of this inveterate local tradition. Homemade cookies and hot apple cider will be served in the Garden Shop to ring in the holiday season. Live music will be performed throughout the days and much more! Check out some highlights below and visit www.marders.com for all the great events.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons will show off a selection of animals including rescued hawks and owls, Keith Barker will discuss birdhouse construction and placement, and Gunther Hauk of the Spikenard Farm Honeybee Sanctuary will give a honeybee demonstration and speak about their importance to all life.
Also look for the outdoor film screening of Queen of the Sun at 4:30 p.m. and the Silas Marder Gallery’s Holiday Salon Reception, with an excellent selection of sculpture, paintings and video art from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday.
Lighting the Montauk Lighthouse
Saturday, 4:30-7 p.m.
Montauk Lighthouse, Montauk (Just drive east on Route 27 until you can’t)
The first major “lighting” of the holiday season, the annual lighting of the Montauk Lighthouse is a site to behold. Enjoy the unique locale, joyful crowd, music, caroling and an appearance by Santa himself. He will also appear on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for photos with kids of all ages. Rain date: Saturday, December 1.
Holiday Market at Pierson
Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Pierson High School, 200 Jermain Avenue, Sag Harbor
Kick off your seasonal shopping and browse an array of holiday-themed treasures from fabulous artisans and vendors at the Pierson High School gym. Buy a ticket to win one of the great prizes from the Chinese auction and sip some light refreshments, which will be available for purchase. Admission is free. Benefits the Sag Harbor PTA/PTSA. World Village Fair Trade Holiday Shopping
Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Quogue Wildlife Refuge, 3 Old Country Road, Quogue
Get into the holiday spirit by browsing, purchasing, and learning about fair trade items. Nice folks from the World Village Fair Trade Market, a member of the Fair Trade Federation, will be in the Nature Center with beautiful handcrafted gift items from all over the world for sale. Every dollar spent helps support the village artisans and farmers who produce the products you purchase so they receive a “fair price” for their handcrafted goods. Learn the importance of buying fair trade products and enjoy some guilt-free holiday shopping!
Gingerbread Story Time and Craft at Amagansett Library
Saturday, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Amagansett Free Library, 215 Main Street, Amagansett.

Windmill at Long Wharf, Sag Harbor
Santa arrives by fire truck to visit with kids and adults who are young at heart. It’s his first appearance in the former whaling port this holiday season, courtesy of the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce!
