Greenport Hip Hop Artist Mike Check's Pluggin' Away
Greenport’s up and coming hip-hop sensation Mike Check released a new video for his track “Pluggin’ Away” on Tuesday.
The song will be featured on Check’s upcoming mixtape entitled Stars, Dreams and Elbow Grease, the follow-up to his aptly titled 2010 debut Check Me Out. The new mixtape is scheduled to drop on February 5.

Parts of the video were shot in Greenport and the North Fork, as well as New York City locations, including Times Square and areas of Brooklyn. The Graphyte of The Kinetic Music Group directed the video, while regular Mike Check collaborator Charles Gates of Gator 8 Films served as Director of Photography. Marylin Corwin produced.

Mike Check is the artist’s real name. He began playing drums at a young age and eventually took up songwriting. He proved to have a knack with wordplay and creating melodic and catchy hooks, which is clearly demonstrated in “Pluggin’ Away.”

He won Season 2 of New York City showcase Hip Hop Unplugged and went on to win other competitions, including his most recent victory on DJ Absolut of HOT97’s Roc the Mic Showcase.
