Polar Bears Need New Home In East Hampton

Superstorm Sandy washed out parts of Main Beach in East Hampton, threatening the beach’s ability to host the annual New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge.
A call to the East Hampton Food Pantry confirmed that the site of the plunge will likely be moved, but as of yet the new location could not be confirmed. The plunge encourages people to get freezin’ for a reason, as it benefits the East Hampton Food Pantry.
Indian Wells or Atlantic Avenue beaches in Amagansett have been considered as alternate sites. Both locations have been used in previous years, though the plunge has been held at Main Beach for the past two years.
