Billy Joel to Headline New Orleans Jazz Festival
Sag Harbor‘s resident “Piano Man“ Billy Joel is part of a legendary lineup of musicians headlining the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival this year, according to an announcement released by the Associated Press on Thursday.
The Long Island legend joins Maroon 5, Willie Nelson, Fleetwood Mac and Hall & Oats, among others, for the 7-day outdoor spring music festival featuring hundreds of bands and individual artists on about a dozen stages over two weekends, April 26-28 and May 2-5. The event will focus on multiple genres, including jazz, gospel, rhythm and blues, Cajun and zydeco. Along with the headliners, New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival expects Earth Wind & Fire, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Jill Scott, Widespread Panic and B.B. King.
Outside of the major headlining acts, the festival’s lineup is mostly from Louisiana with returning favorites such as Irma Thomas, jazz singer and pianist Allen Toussaint and Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews.
