New Hospice Facility Planned for Quiogue
East End Hospice has proposed to build a new eight-bed inpatient facility in Quiogue and it looks like things are moving forward..
According to North Fork Patch, the Southampton Town Planning Board deemed East End Hospice‘s site plan application complete and set a public hearing for 1 p.m. on Jan. 24 at Southampton Town Hall.
The hearing looks to approve a $10 million, 24-hour care facility with eight private rooms and private bathrooms and walkout terraces that will overlook Aspatuck Creek. The facility, designed by architect Roger Ferris, would also feature rooms for visiting family, including a family room with fireplace, family bathroom with shower, a reflection room for grieving family members and a closed-in sun porch, courtyard and garden. A spa room that with an ultrasonic bath would also be available to ease patients’ suffering.
Dying patients from the entire East End would be eligible to stay.
East End Hospice started fundraising back in June, 2011 and raised nearly $4 million. Fundraising efforts have continued since.
