Another Montauk Film in the Works

Arthouse director Volker Schlondorff, maker of The Tin Drum and Calm at Sea, is planning his next movie, an original autobiographical film entitled Montauk, according to CriterionCast, a podcast focused on the films of the Criterion Collection.
The Tin Drum is now available on Criterion Collection Blu-ray and Schlondorff is currently promoting his new film, Calm at Sea. This is the second film about Montauk that is also titled Montauk appearing in the press in as many weeks—Brooklyn-based filmmaker Vinz Feller is collecting donations on Kickstarter for his short film of the same name through February 13.
Schlondorff is teaming with well-known Irish writer Colm Tóibín on their version of Montauk. The film “will follow the story of a writer coming to the states to aid in the opening of his new play, only to get caught in a world of romance similar to the source of his play, Don Juan,” CriterionCast.com explains.
Schlondorff’s other films include Drum, Young Torless and Coup de Grace.
