I Love 88.3 WPPB Contest
Over the past few weeks 88.3 FM Peconic Public Broadcasting, the local public radio station for the East End of Long Island and coastal Connecticut, has been holding a contest titled I Love 88.3 WPPB on the station’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The contest invited listeners to submit a video no longer then one minute stating their name, what they love about the station, and the project, company or venture they’re working on which they would want to promote via live radio. The contest winner received a guest appearance on Bonnie Grice’s Eclectic Café today, Valentine’s Day, as well as a manicure, pedicure and haircut from Salon Xavier in Sag Harbor. After posting the 20 submissions on Facebook, 88.3 chose eight finalists and reposted them, allowing its listeners to vote for their favorite video.
Listeners voted by “liking” the posts containing their favorite videos. With 244 likes, the winner of the I Love 88.3 WPPB contest was Our Fabulous Variety Show, a local theatre troupe of passionate young performers. The even younger ballerinas of Hampton Ballet Theatre School earned an Honorable Mention for their video. Today, on Valentine’s Day, 88.3 WPPB and Bonnie Grice welcomed the young ballerinas of Hampton Ballet Theatre School and Our Fabulous Variety Show to the studio for Eclectic Café. Videos of both interviews, including a ballerina dance-off can be seen on WPPB’s Facebook page.
Today was day two of the station’s first 2013 fund drive. To show your love for local public radio, make a secure and tax-deductible donation online at 883wppb.org.
