Am O'Gansett Parade Brings St. Patrick's Day Vibe to Hamptons
St. Patrick’s Day was in the Hamptons air as the fifth annual Am O’Gansett parade took off down Main Street on Saturday morning, lasting far longer than the promised five minutes! A varied and eclectic group—from the Dan’s Papers Smart Car to a greener-than-usual Hampton Jitney—entered into the parade, which started behind Mary’s Marvelous.
“Floats” yielded right, as the parade went down the street and back again, making for an exciting “double parade.” As has become custom with East End parades, local fire departments outfitted pretty much every truck they owned for the event, and the Amagansett and Montauk FDs did their little town proud. The festivities were led by Grand Marshal Htun Han, who proudly posed for pictures outside of the Stephen Talkhouse after marching.
