Toss Out the Obit, John Waters Is NOT Dead!

Rumors have been swirling for days that Hamptons regular and famous Hairspray director John Waters is dead.

Don’t worry, while he might appreciate the joke, Waters is very much alive.

Social media exploded with news of the star’s demise after a website called National Report posted an obituary for Waters on Wednesday. The post, titled “Acclaimed Cult Filmmaker, John Waters … Drops Dead at 67!” said he died of natural causes.

While National Report is a fake news and humor site, the fake obit, by “Nigel J. Covington III” lacked any humor, satire or indication that it was a hoax. The site, nationalreport.net likely saw a massive increase in hits and traffic this week.
