Pet Hero Awards Kicks Off in April

Hamptons animal lovers and celebs are already gearing up for this summer’s Pet Hero Awards. The fun begins on Saturday, April 20 with a Pet Hero Awards Kick Off Party and fundraiser at 230 Elm in Southampton.
East Hampton supermodel Christie Brinkley and Lou Wegner, movie star and founder of Kids Against Animal Cruelty, are the first to be tapped for awards. Brinkley will receive the Humanitarian of the Year award and more winners will be announced soon.
Hosted by Pet Philanthropy Circle, the Kick Off Party will raise money for various Long Island dog, cat and pet rescue organizations, which will also be in attendance. Mike Scala Band is providing live music and the event will feature open bar cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and an incredible silent auction!
Each purchased ticket counts as a vote for the animal welfare organization of choice. The org with the largest number of ticket votes will be eligible for a $5,000 Grand Prize! A “Best Hat Prize” will also be handed out for the person with the greatest western, homemade, funny or glamorous headwear.
All rescue and/or animal welfare organizations are eligible to participate in the contest for the $5,000 Grand Prize. The group with the largest number of votes will be announced that evening and then entered into the $5,000 Grand Prize drawing that is limited to only 15 entries.
The Grand Prize will be presented during the Pet Philanthropy Circle’s Pet Hero Award Ceremony at PetFest in Bridgehampton on June 29 where Brinkley, Wegner and others will receive their awards!
