Riverhead Tells Citizens "You May No Longer Boo"
This is one of those moments where you’re going to say, “Are you kidding me?”
Apparently, it is now illegal to boo in Riverhead. I am not making this up. If you are a Riverhead resident and think that something that is being voted on is absolutely ridiculous, it is officially illegal to boo at the town board during meetings. Officials there voted to ban it on Tuesday.
Oh, if you want to applaud them, that is still allowed.
The board voted to approve the new rule that prohibits any demonstration that lawmakers would consider disruptive to meetings, specifically booing, but agreed clapping would still be permitted.
That really is kind of scary if you ask me. The board in Riverhead must know in their hearts that this is as about as un-American as it gets. Don’t go down this road, Riverhead, everybody knows where it leads.
Free speech anyone? Seriously? We still live in America, right?
