Matthew Broderick Stars in New CBS Sitcom

Hamptons resident Matthew Broderick will star in a new television sitcom set in the Hamptons on CBS this fall. In the untitled pilot, Broderick will play Jack, a recently widowed dad raising Sebastian, his 12-year-old son, while also trying to navigate a return to the dating world.
Broderick is finishing his extended run in Broadway musical Nice Work if You Can Get it on June 15, and if all goes well, he may not see the stage for a while. His character Jack is an “effortlessly charming” advertising executive who has started dating at the urging of his well-intentioned son. Things go well for Jack and he begins to enjoy the single-and-dating lifestyle.
The pilot is written by Tad Quill, of Scrubs, and James Burrows has signed on to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news.
Broderick‘s last leading television role was on the failed NBC comedy, Beach Lane, on which he played a celebrity author hired by a millionaire to save a struggling local newspaper in the Hamptons. He has since made small screen appearances on Glee, 30 Rock, Adventure Time, Modern Family and FX hit Louie.
