Run the Katy's Courage 5k this Saturday
The Katy’s Courage 5k is this Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in Sag Harbor and I’m planning on being there.
Katy’s Courage is a not-for-profit organization honoring Katy Stewart, a Sag Harbor resident who died of a rare pediatric cancer at 12 years young. Her father was Jim Stewart, a highly respected teacher and wrestling and soccer coach at East Hampton High School. Watching how he and his family have developed this event in their daughter’s honor is absolutely amazing. It’s one of those events that everybody who is local in the Hamptons is connected to in some way.
The 5k will raise money for the The Katy’s Courage Scholarship fund, which donates money to a Pierson High School and East Hampton High School senior who is headed off to a four-year school and displays outstanding characteristics.
It’s one of those events that’s very real in the Hamptons and for $25 to run through the gorgeous route in Sag Harbor, how can you beat that?
