Support Local Theater: See "Peter Pan" in East Hampton at Guild Hall Tomorrow
Springs Community Theater is a group of Springs residents that I have a soft spot for. The group, which performs a live musical at Guild Hall every year, does a really great job, pulls the shows together professionally and shows what community spirit is all about.
It’s also a really talented bunch of people.
This year Springs Community Theater is performing Peter Pan and I’ve heard that the actors will be lifted up into the air by wire during the flying scenes. Jayne Freedman will be starring in the show as Peter Pan and Josh Gladstone will be starring as Captain Hook.
When I lived in Montauk, I did two shows with the Springs Community Theater, Li’l Abner and South Pacific. Both experiences were one of the best outlets at that time to get me through the harsh Montauk winter. It looks to me like the Springs Community Theater is just getting better and better. In the photos below, taken by Richard Lewin, you can see just how awesome the flying scenes look and the professionalism of the set design and costumes.
And for this to all be done by a group of locals (Jayne is a hairstylist, and producer Barbara Mattson works for Douglas Elliman Real Estate) really just blows me away.
If you enjoy live theater, this is the thing to do this weekend. It’s not like going to some high school play or something, it’s a real night out and the cost of tickets is on par with a night at the movies these days. Go see Peter Pan and enjoy it! The show is just $25 for adults and the show dates are April 12, 13, 14 and 19, 20, 2013. Friday & Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. – Sunday Matinee 2 p.m. Tickets available online HERE or call 1-866-811-4111, or buy them at the door on the day of the performance.
