Russell Simmons Helps Young Entrepreneurs

East Hampton’s Russell Simmons is offering his business expertise to the My Rising Tide program, which helps young people pursue their entrepreneurial goals.

The grand prize winner of the program’s recent online contest will receive one-on-one time and coaching with Simmons, while nine other will win $5,000 to help realize their dream, a tablet and three-day trip to Los Angeles. The hip-hop mogul told Ebony magazine, “…if I can inspire one person to do a little better, put their heads down a little deeper, and use the God-given talents that they have inside, then I’ve done my job.”

As part of Simmons‘ “Inspire Me” message, he explains, “You have to fully engage in your work, forgetting the results, forgetting the noise in front of you, forgetting the obstacles. And keep digging, digging until you hit a brick—and digging through the brick.” The hip hop mogul says all dreams are possible for those who work hard.
