The Top 100 Songs of Summer simply cannot be stopped by this Hamptons heat wave, so as we continue through the rest of the week and hopefully end this never ending hot weather, we might as well be reminded of music that inspires us to keep hot, even if it is a figure of speech.
Hamptons 100 Songs of Summer #48
“This is Why I’m Hot” by Mims
Released in 2007 as the first single from the album Music is My Savior, “This is Why I’m Hot” became a hit song thanks to its confident lyrics and reggae inspired remixes and roots. It was co-written by the rapper Mims and produced by Blackout Movement, and became the number one downloaded song in the world, according to Billboard at the time of its release.
And if you’re a Yankee fan, then you have to give this song some extra love since Alex Rodriguez would walk out to the plate during games at home with this lovely tune. The nuanced chorus is poetic, to the point and demonstrates a combination of colloquial uncommon-ness.
This is why I’m hot hot
This is why I’m hot hot
This is why, this is why, this is why I’m hot
This is why I’m hot hot
This is why I’m hot hot
This is why, this is why, this is why I’m hot
I’m hot ’cause I’m fly, you ain’t cause you not
This is why, this is why, this is why I’m hot
