Geoffrey Zakarian: "It's the Rolls Royce of Food Under One Tent"
Simply put, GrillHampton last night was incredible. New Life Crisis was on fire throughout the event, the tent was packed with food and food lovers, and not a single person left without a huge grin on their face.
And last night was just the start of it.
So what can I say about GrillHampton? Basically GrillHampton was a celebration of top chefs and their creations much like tonight’s event—Dan’s Taste of Two Forks, hosted by Bobby Flay—only instead of the guests spending the evening enjoying tastings from nearly every restaurant on the East End, a select group of restaurants from the East End and NYC had chefs at the grill, competing against one another for the guests and a panel of celebrity judges. Then, at the end of the night, diners voted on who’s food was their favorite, and the winner was announced. Last night Rumba of Hampton Bays won the People’s Choice Award, and it was announced that Team Hamptons beat out Team New York City.
It’s a ton of foodie fun. I spoke to chef Geoffry Zakarian, the event’s host, and I thought he summed up the evening pretty well: “It’s the Rolls Royce of food under one tent. I’m having a great time. The food is unbelievable and there is a lot of positive energy.”
While we were speaking, there was a line of people all looking to get a picture with him, which he graciously obliged.
GrillHampton was just as fun, just on a more intimate scale, as Dan’s Taste of Two Forks. It was nice to see so many people come out and enjoy themselves, and it was nice to see so many of my coworkers here at Dan’s all having a good time. We’re doing it all again tonight (it’s already a sell-out), only it’s going to be even bigger! See you there!
