Surf’s Up at Parrish Art Museum with “Atlantic Vibrations”
Endless Summer is not simply a dream as we approach the end of August here in the Hamptons, but also the title of the definitive surf movie of all time (will apologies to you fans of Point Break, of course). In following a pair of surfers around the world, filmmaker Bruce Brown not only captured the nomadic spirit and inspired countless surfers to chase waves across the globe, but he also inspired generations of movie-makers to capture surfers on film. A group of those films arrive in the Hamptons this week, as the waters from Westhampton to Montauk provide the inspiration and dramatic backdrop for “Atlantic Vibrations” at the Parrish Art Museum, a screening of 14 short, noncommercial films by both emerging and established filmmakers acknowledging the timeless connection between art, film and surfing.
“Atlantic Vibrations” screens at the Parrish Art Museum on Friday, August 23.
