Southampton Town Police Department Earns Accreditation

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice awarded the Southampton Town Police Department a certificate of accreditation on Thursday, and Chief Robert Pearce and Lt. Lawrence Schurek, the department’s accreditation program manager, went to Albany to accept it.

New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation Council presented the certificate at the Alfred E. Smith State Office Building.

“The Certificate of Accreditation is a formal recognition that the Southampton Town Police Department’s policies and practices meet or exceed the established standards in areas of administration, training, and police operations,” the department stated. “The council established these many standards to promote excellence and professionalism in the field of law enforcement.”

Southampton Town Police Department has been an accredited agency since September 1998.
