Bridgehampton resident, supermodel and animal advocate Christie Brinkley said goodbye to her horse, and longtime companion on the trail, Goodbar Miss on Tuesday, October 29. Clearly pained by the horse’s death, Brinkley shared two old photos on Instagram and posted two more pictures and messages in Goodbar’s memory on Facebook.
The first of her two Instagram posts features Brinkley and Goodbar, with some words about the good times they shared, both in competition and during trail rides:
Saying my final farewell to an old friend, Goodbar Miss. She passed away today and I will always count my hours with her as some of my happiest! She was a great cutting horse , and solid as a rock on the trail. From Summer night moonlight rides to galloping thru the woods and the excitement of competition she was trusty and my most cherished and loved horse who always put the happy in the trail!
The second Instagram shot shows Brinkley riding Goodbar with her daughter Alexa Ray Joel, who she had with with first husband Billy Joel. Just seeing Alexa’s young age in the photo (she’s now 27) shows how long Goodbar was a part of Brinkley’s family. To that end, the supermodel wrote:
Goodbar Miss was the kind of horse you could trust with your babies , like here with Alexa… All three of my kids spent time in her saddle .. she kept them safe and contributed to their love of the outdoors. All that, and then she would do her best to try to make me look good at our cutting horse competitions. I can’t believe its the end of the trail. I loved my days with Goodbar Miss.
On Facebook, Brinkley noted, “Goodbar did everything with me she even came to work for Cover Girl with me!” and shared a shot of her and the horse in a Cover Girl ad. Another post included another older photo of Brinkley and Goodbar Miss (see at top of page), reading only, “Happy Days with Goodbar Miss.”
Our warmest condolences go out to Christie Brinkley and her family.
