Martha Stewart vs. Gwyneth Paltrow for Hamptons Lifestyle Guru Title

During a recent appearance on Bloomberg Television, original homemaker lifestyle guru and Hamptonite Martha Stewart seemed to question fellow Hamptonite and younger lifestyle upstart Gwyneth Paltrow‘s legitimacy.
Stewart noted that Paltrow “really wants to be part of the lifestyle business” and then asked whether the Oscar-winning actress and People magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman” actually has the homemaker chops she’s selling in her cookbooks and on GOOP, her online lifestyle magazine.
“I haven’t eaten at Gwyneth’s house, and I have never seen how she lives,” Stewart said. “But, if she’s authentic, all the better — and I certainly hope she is,” she said, adding later, “She’s a charming, pretty person who has a feeling for lifestyle. She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter — fine. Good.”
Paltrow, who has slowly pushed her hat into the lifestyle guru ring, appears to have everything she needs to become a younger, hipper version of Stewart, for younger, hipper—probably richer—moms and homemakers. Cookbooks? Check. Magazine? Check (online). Popular website with everything a girl needs to host a party? Check. Online store with branded products? Check. Blog? Check. Legion of Twitter followers? Check. Celebrity pals? Check. TV show? Nope.
The GOOP godess is looking pretty good, but as Stewart brashly points out on Bloomberg, “I started this whole category of lifestyle.”
So which one is your Hamptons lifestyle guru? Stewart may be the reigning queen, but is Paltrow poised to dethrone her? All royalty falls eventually, right? We’ll have to wait and see.
