Southampton Town Highway Superintendent Alex Gregor was re-elected Tuesday with nearly 62 percent of the vote.
This is the Independence Party member’s second four-year term. Gregor also had the support of the Democratic and Working Families parties.
Gregor had 7,259 votes Tuesday to Republican challenger David Betts’ 4,470. While there are still hundreds of absentee ballots to be counted, there are not enough outstanding votes to change the outcome.
Betts, a Republican who had the Conservative Party ballot line as well, is the chief investigator for Southampton Town’s code enforcement department.
Gregor is a resident of Hampton Bays.
