Human Resources of the Hamptons 10th Polar Bear Plunge Is Saturday
Calling all polar bears!
Human Resources of the Hamptons will host its 10th annual Polar Bear Plunge at Coopers Beach on Saturday, December 14, at 10 a.m.
East Enders are invited to brave the frosty Atlantic to help their neighbors. Money raised goes toward Human Resources’ food pantry, which provides assistance to 350 local families. There is a $25 minimum registration fee, which can be paid out of pocket or through collecting donations. Arrive before 9:30 a.m. to register and turn in donation sheets and money.
Last year’s plunge drew 411 cold-water aficionados, and the event raised $77,000. This year, the goal is to raise $100,000. Costume-clad participants are always welcome.
The air temperature on Saturday is forecast to reach a high of 47 degrees. The water temp is currently hovering around 46 degrees—the perfect excuse to enjoy a warm Survivor’s Celebration after the plunge, which includes coffee, hot chocolate, soup, sandwiches, chili, bagels and hot dogs.
