Thousands of lucky people started 2014 off right with a New Year’s Eve concert in Brooklyn with Ben Folds Five and Sag Harbor’s Billy Joel at Barclays Center.
Those who were watching Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve were also in for a treat. After the ball dropped, Ryan Seacrest threw it to the Barclay’s Center for Joel’s performance of “You May Be Right.”
Among the members of Joel’s band were Michael Delguidice, of Miller Place, the frontman of the popular Billy Joel tribute band Big Shot. The New York Times wrote a nice article this week on Delguidice’s move from cover artist to part of his hero’s band.
In 2014, and likely beyond, Joel is set to play monthly concerts at Madison Square Garden for as long as there is demand for tickets. The shows are already sold out through July, and August and September shows have been put on the calendar.
