Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly Buys $8.5 Million Property in Montauk
Bill O’Reilly, of The O’Reilly Factor on Fox News Channel and talk radio, is a new property owner in Montauk, having dropped $8.5 million on the former Abbey property, overlooking the ocean.
The parcel, on a bluff, had been home to a 600-square-foot 1940s cottage and other structures, which have since been torn down to make room for a custom-built home by Farrell Building Company.
“As a Montauk native who has always admired the Abbey property, along with many other locals, it was sad to see the structures come down,” says Town & Country Montauk office manager Theresa Eurell, who was the listing agent.
O’Reilly told the New York Post in December that he intends to use the property as an investment. “We are cleaning it up and have offered the historical society out there the wood from the two small buildings that were on their last pegs,” O’Reilly reportedly told Page Six. “All is low-key, as I am a Long Islander who only wants good things for the home team.”
