Howard Stern 60th Birthday Bash Airing on SiriusXM Tonight
Southampton resident and King of All Media Howard Stern turned 60 years old on January 12, but the shock jock is celebrating the landmark birthday with a “blowout bash” and live broadcast at NYC’s Hammerstein (or Hammer-stern) Ballroom tonight, Friday, January 31.
The party and show will be broadcast live on Stern’s SiriusXM radio channel, Howard 100, and will be hosted by late night’s Jimmy Kimmel, a friend of Stern’s. The evening will include a number of guests and funnymen, including David Letterman, Louis C.K. and a host of lucky listeners and fans who won the free tickets through on-air contests and games. Fellow Hamptonite Jon Bon Jovi is scheduled to perform, as is John Fogerty (one of Stern’s heroes and all-time faves) and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, who will do a one-song duet with a special secret guest. Other celebrity guests and possible performers will be revealed at the event.
Of course a celebration of Stern and his accomplishments over the past decades wouldn’t be complete without his longtime collaborators, including Robin Quivers—who recently survived a cancer scare—Stern Show Executive Producer Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate, writer and sound man Fred Norris (who has also been known to visit the Hamptons) and the newest member among this list, writer and comedian Benjy Bronk. Of course we also expect Stern’s wife Beth Stern, who will be hosting Sunday’s Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel, to be at his side.
There has been no word whether Stern’s old “Wack Pack” from his days on 92.3 K-Rock will attend, as was the tradition in Stern Show parties of the past, so it remains to be seen exactly how much of a retrospective the event will be. It’s likely characters such as High Pitch Eric, Underdog Lady, Crackhead Bob, Beetlejuice, Elephant Boy and others are also hoping to get a call.
The #Howard Birthday Bash party/broadcast will run anywhere from 2.5–4 hours, starting at 6 p.m. (a two-hour preshow begins at 4 p.m.), and it will be available to everyone—not just SiriusXM subscribers—at howardstern.com/news/the-birthday-bash-for-everyone.
Along with the live, streaming audio broadcast they will be live blogging the entire show with photos, updates and info straight from the party.
