New East Hampton Supervisor Calls for Recycling at Town Hall
Larry Cantwell, the newly inaugurated supervisor of East Hampton Town, has issued a recycling directive for town offices as one of his first acts in office.
According to a statement from the supervisor’s office Wednesday, the move came after a discussion at the town board’s first 2014 work session on increased public participation in recycling at the town’s waste and recycling centers.
“The town needs to set an example,” Cantwell says. “If we ask our residents to increase their recycling efforts, the town must do so, as well.”
Cantwell noticed that lack of recycling bins at town hall and called for all town offices to begin recycling paper.
In addition to protecting the environment, the supervisor said the policy also aims to reduce garbage-disposal expenses.
