Will Ferrell, Chad Smith to Face Off in Cancer for College Benefit

Funnyman Will Ferrell has accepted Chad Smith‘s challenge for a drum-off to see who has the best skills—on the condition that they can raise $300,000 for Cancer for College in the process.

The idea started after Ferrell participated in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything.) He concluded with a video in which he “admitted” he is actually Chad Smith, the drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Smith, a Montauk resident, took exception to Ferrell impersonating him and responded with his challenge.

Ferrell offered to have the drum -versus-cowbell showdown “on stage at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert or in front of a mutually convenient public library.”

Perhaps they will face off at Bay Street Theatre, where Smith paired with Nancy Atlas at the first Fireside Session.

Cancer for College provides college scholarships to cancer survivors. Ferrell hosts the Will Powered Golf Tournament and the Desert Showdown celebrity tennis event, both of which benefit Cancer for College.
