Passenger Extricated After SUV Strikes Sedan in Southampton
Southampton Fire Department extricated a passenger from a sedan using the Jaws of Life Monday afternoon after an SUV hit the back of the vehicle.
The accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. on Hill Street in Southampton Village, just east of the Tuckahoe Lane intersection, according to Southampton Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief Chris Brenner. The impact sent the sedan down the access road to East Gate Road, he said.
Both the driver and backseat passenger in the sedan were taken to Southampton Hospital by Southampton Volunteer Ambulance and Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Brenner said. The driver of the SUV, a Trailblazer, refused medical attention.
Crews were on scene for a half hour, with Chief Dennis Roy in charge.
