50 Things to Do Before Memorial Day: Go to a New York Baseball Game
There are fewer than 40 days until Memorial Day weekend, and while we at Dan’s Papers can’t wait, we also know there are many things we have to squeeze in during the next few weeks on the East End, lest we lose our chance with all that summer brings. We know that if we don’t get out and do these now, we’ll have to wait until after Labor Day before we try again…and so will you!
We continue our countdown of things to do before Memorial Day weekend on the East End with #36: Go to a New York Baseball Game
Heading to Citi Field or Yankee Stadium for a weekend ballgame is a treat for any fan, but getting there early in the season has some added benefits. Yes, you’ll find better seats available now than you’ll get when the action really heats up. Sure, the traffic getting into or out of the Hamptons—or either stadium—will escalate with each Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the calendar as we toward summer. But you also want to get to a game before…
•Derek Jeter is on the bench for a prolonged rest. Or worse. If you want to improve your odds of seeing Jeter take the field during his farewell season, keep in mind that The Captain has already gotten a few days off early on, and coming of the horrid injury that kept him out all of last year, the dog days of summer will likely take their toll on the future Hall of Famer.
•The crowds waiting for a Shake Shack burger at Citi Field are bigger than those at Main Beach and Coopers Beach combined
•The Mets are mathematically eliminated
•Your summer schedule is filled with root, root, rooting for your favorite Hamptons Collegiate Baseball team!
Come back tomorrow for 50 Things to Do Before Memorial Day in the Hamptons #35.
