Alexa Ray Joel's Stint at Café Carlyle Begins
Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of Sag Harbor’s Billy Joel and Bridgehampton’s Christie Brinkley, began her 12-day run at Café Carlyle in Manhattan on Tuesday, and her proud mother attended the show.
“Alexa was a SENSATION!,” Brinkley wrote on Instagram. “From the moment she sashayed onto the stage she enthralled us! She had us laughing, she brought us to tears, her eclectic song choices kept us guessing…”
“I know I will cherish this night forever,” Brinkley added. “P.S. I heard the word ‘amazing’ 10 times as we left the packed room!”
Joel is off tonight and then performs uninterupted every night from April 3 to April 12. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, general seating is $50 and bar seating is $30 plus a $25 food and drink minimum. Friday and Saturday, the cost is $60 or $40 plus $25. For reservations, call 212-744-1600.
She recently recorded a cover of her father’s “Just the Way You Are” for the Gap Back to Blue campaign. She also has a number of original compositions, such as “Notice Me.”
