The Battle of Mutiny Bay: Splish Splash Makes New Ride for Summer 2014
Splish Splash water amusement park in Calverton will have a brand new attraction, The Battle of Mutiny Bay, for summer 2014.
This all new interactive water attraction will put visitors in the role of fearless sea captain and crew on a captivating voyage that the entire family can enjoy together. Seated in brightly colored boats, riders use water-spray “cannons” to blast other boats as well as spectators roaming the perimeter. The excitement is enhanced by shoreline guests returning splash-blasts with water cannons fixed along the perimeter of the attraction. The continuously moving boats travel through numerous interactions while cruising along a 300-foot long lagoon that holds 185,000 gallons of water.
The new ride includes visitors on land, as well as those aboard the Mutiny Bay boats. Splish Splash says the attraction fits their core clientele perfectly as it “accommodates guests of all ages and adds to the unique collection of themed attractions.”
Splish Splash has been sharing photographs of their plans, branding, construction process, and progress, for The Battle of Mutiny Bay since March and it seems like it will be a hit. According to the original design drawings, the ride will feature eight pirate-style tall ships and some exciting sculpted features to set the mood—a kraken-like sea monster, wrecked ships, partially submerged rocks and a stone cave resembling a skull among them. An ample walkway surrounds the “bay” with four boardwalk “docks” where water cannons can be fired at the passing ships.
Manufactured by Preston and Barbieri, The Battle of Mutiny Bay is an entirely new area, situated between existing rides Dr. Von Dark and Bootlegger’s Run at the park. Splish Splash fans and parents have been incredibly enthusiastic about the news.
To participate on the boats in The Battle of Mutiny Bay, children under 48 inches tall must be accompanied by an adult, and all guests will need to occupy a seat. Children will not be able to sit on a parent’s lap.
