Hamptons Bays Girls Basketball Team Fêted

The Hampton Bays High School Girls Varsity Basketball team was honored in Riverhead last week at the county center with a proclamation for their first Class B Long Island Championship since 2008.

The Lady Baymen won the title on March 4 when they defeated Oyster Bay, 61–56.

“Coach McGunnigle and the entire team deserve to be commended for their championship season,” said Legislator Jay Schneiderman, of Montauk.

Winning the Long Island title and reaching the regional final, matches the best season in Hampton Bays program history.
