Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman Rent in Bridgehampton
Notorious television personality, judge on Fox’s recently canceled The X Factor and U.K. native Simon Cowell is hopping the pond and renting a home in Bridgehampton with girlfriend Lauren Silverman this summer, according to a report from Page Six.
The Hamptons rental comes after the couple rented a $26,500-a-month Upper East Side apartment last year, though Cowell is reportedly still looking to buy in the city.
Cowell’s move to the New York area comes with his growing relationship with Silverman, who bore his son Eric this year and whose first son, 7-year-old Adam, lives with his father (and Cowell’s former close friend) Andrew Silverman in Manhattan. Cowell and Silverman reportedly began an affair last year while she was still married to Andrew, a New York real estate mogul. Lauren and Andrew divorced late last year, following her pregnancy with Cowell’s child, but the former American Idol judge has remained in America, specifically Manhattan, so Silverman can be close to her eldest son.
Cowell welcomed his first son, three-month-old Eric, with Silverman this past February.
Before impregnating Silverman, Cowell had been adamant about not wanting children, according to a Hello! magazine interview with singer Sinitta, his longtime, on-again-off-again girlfriend of two decades. But it seems the mogul loves being a father, Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden told Hello! (via The Daily Mail), predicting that Cowell would marry Silverman and have more children.
“He’s met his match in Lauren, 100 percent,” Holden told Hello!, adding, “Simon definitely should ask Lauren to marry him. He shouldn’t let her get away. Lauren’s such a good influence on him.”
Meanwhile, in another odd twist, Cowell and Silverman have asked Sinitta to be Eric’s godmother. Sinitta, initially shocked and angered by Cowell’s baby news, turned around after seeing the positive changes in her old friend and lover. “He seems like the Simon I used to know before the super-famous and super-rich Simon he is now,” Sinitta told OK! magazine (via The Daily Mail) in March, adding, “Eric’s brought a softer side of Simon back.”
With memories of Cowell’s abrasive, brutally honest judging style still fresh, Hamptonites brace for his arrival and hope his “softer side” is still evident in the madness of summer.
